Valery Nkendong, DNP, APRN, PMHNP-BC, founded Desert Bolt Behavioral in 2020 with the vision of providing comprehensive mental health services to clients of all ages. His wealth of experience in the healthcare industry has given him a solid foundation to provide client-centered care. Val and his team are proud to provide Phoenix, Arizona, with access to high-quality, affordable mental health services. Val began his work as a CNA before transitioning to an LPN and later an RN and facility supervisor. He obtained his Master of Science degree in nursing with a concentration in psychiatric mental health and went on to complete a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Walden University. As an advanced practice registered nurse, Valery services clients through counseling and medication management. His priority is to get patients actively involved in their treatment plans. Val’s work with clients at Desert Bolt Behavioral is critical to their behavioral and overall physical health. He looks forward to continuing his work as a mental health provider and growing in the field.
Michael Bass
APRN, PMHNP-BC
Michael Bass has over a decade of experience working in the field of mental health. He has worked in various positions, including director of nursing and hospital supervisor, working with patients and their families to help them reach their treatment goals. Michael is committed to providing patient-centered care, taking the time to listen to individual needs and developing personalized plans for each person to help them reach their desired treatment goals. Michael is passionate about helping his patients reach their full potential and provides the highest level of care and support to patients at Desert Bolt.
Julia England
LCSW
Julia is a Graduate from Arizona State University with a Master of Science in social work and a certificate in gerontology. Julia has worked with a variety of populations from developmentally disabled adults to adolescents in an inpatient psychiatric setting. As a contracted Clinical supervisor, Julia provides clinical oversight to Desert Bolt’s main therapist. As a therapist, Julia helps individuals and couples recognize maladaptive patterns and develop the skills they need to help overcome life’s challenges. Julia draws from different therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. As a therapist and social worker Julia believes it is important to always be learning and keeping up to date with the latest research through reading and trainings.
Dee Mujkic
Billing Specialist
Dee brings her passion when it comes to helping patients into the work force on all levels. As a billing coordinator, Dee works at all fronts to enforce facility compliance with Medicare, State, and Federal rules and regulations.
Dee’s day to day activities at Desert Bolt include verification of insurance, performing eligibility checks, as well as addressing all patient and facility billing inquiries. Dee’s knowledge of billing issues and trends, and data analysis are well utilized for our patients.
